About Atal Peetha Sarvajnapeetham
KAILĀSA Paramparagatha Atal Peetha
The KAILĀSA Paramparagatha Atal Peetham is one of the 13 Akhāḍās established by Paramaśiva. After establishing the Akhāḍā system, Paramaśiva coronated His own son Bhagavān Ganesha as the successor of the royal spiritual seat of Atal Akhāḍā. Originally established in present day Pakistan, the land of Atal was dispossessed after the partition of India and Pakistan, forcing the head of the Akhāḍā to flee from the persecution. Today, it is situated in present day Haridwar with thousands of sanyasis. The Supreme Pontiff of Hinduism Bhagavān Nithyānanda Paramashivam was declared as the Acharya Mahāmanḍaleśvar entrusted with the responsibility to revive this ancient tradition to its original glory.
Origins
Originally founded in the valleys of the Himalayan mountains in modern-day Pakistan by Paramaśiva Himself, the Atal Akhāḍā ruled these lands for multiple millennia as the religious and spiritual sovereign.
The Atal Akhāḍā is the first the Akhāḍā established by Paramaśiva, who performed the ceremonial coronation of His direct descendant and son Sri Ganapati. Paramaśiva ordained him on the royal spiritual seat of the kingdom called ‘Kailaasa Paramparagatha Atal Peetha Sarvajnapeetha’ to govern and protect the world through the cosmic constitution (reference – Śrī Gaṇapati Purāṇa).
Śrī Gaṇapati, as the ruling divinity and presiding deity of the Atal Akhada, is represented by the Ācārya Mahāmanḍaleśvar (the senior pontiff) who continues the cosmic lineage as the inheritor of the Atal kingdom.
Puranical Reference
Bhagavān Ganesha protected the people of Sauvira Kingdom when the evil-minded Sundar and Hingol were plaguing the people of the kingdom. Thus, Lord Ganesha was the protector and Ultimate Lord for the people and simultaneously a chieftain of the spiritually centered community that formed the Atal Akhāḍā.
The Sauvira Dynasty
13, 350 BCE
The Sauvira Dynasty is one of the oldest surviving dynasties that originated from pre-Vaivasvata Manvantara era and survived until after the Mahābhārata. It was located in the Sindh region of modern day Pakistan and founded by King Sibi and his son, who established a line of kings who were the most brave warriors in history. The Sauvira warriors are referred in the Mahabharata as the “Saibyas”, who hailed from this very kingdom.
Multani Marhi
Originally the headquarters of the Atal Akhāḍā was situated in present day Multan, Pakistan.
The city had one of the greatest temples for Śiva ever built which was renowned for its architecture and the unique deity:
Made of Gold
- Floating in air using electromagnetic technology of iron-ored stones and the deity which had magnetized copper
- Energized by an enlightened master
- Mentioned in Greek literature and by Chinese traveler, Huen-Tsang
Mohenjo Daro Excavation
Excavation sites like Mohenjo Daro, which reveal advanced ancient civilizations in the Indus Valley, were once under the Sauvira Dynasty. The archaeological evidence shows refined city-planning, advanced plumbing, and most notably, the sophisticated works of sacred arts such as the Śiva deity of the Multan temple.

Today, Multan is unrecognizable from its glorious Hindu past, with its temples looted and destroyed. Violence against the Hindu people in Pakistan has forcefully displaced them from their ancestral home. Relocating the Headquarters of Atal Akhāḍā
As far as the Atal Akhāḍā, the lineage continued through the years, despite heavy persecution and the destruction of every possible tradition. By the late 1900’s, a single stream was alive. The pontiff two generations prior to The SPH (the final successor today) was forcefully displaced from the ancestral land of Multan due to another wave of raging attacks, threatening his life and the survival of this ancient indigenous tradition.
14 million Hindus were forced to migrate or accede to Pakistan
- As the oldest living monastic tradition, the Atal Peetha was once nestled in the heart of civilization at the Indus Valley.
- After centuries spent in Multan, it faced a significant upheaval following India’s partition and Pakistan’s formation in 1947
- Twelve Sanātana Hindu kingdoms were forced to leave or join the newly formed Islamic state, leading to an exodus from their ancestral lands.
- In a gruesome event in March of 1947, 200 lives were lost and ancient temples desecrated.
- The Hindu population in Multan plummeted from 250,000 to just 12,000 within a decade.
- Faced with ongoing violence, the pontiff of the Atal Peetha two generations before THE SPH was forcefully and illegally displaced from the ancient capital.
- Today, the Atal Peetha has lost its ties with its sacred ancestral land, unable to return due to the violent conditions that persist

Translation
My name is Shri Sanatan Bharati. I am secretary of Shambhu Panchayati Akhada Dashnami Sanyasi. There are seven Akhadas in Dashnami Sanyas, of which only one is ‘Atal’. It was founded in 722 AD, almost 1400 years ago, by Jagatguru Shri Shankaracharya. It was founded for revival and sustenance of Sanatan Vedic Dharma. He founded 4 Mathas in four directions for sustenance and revival of the four Vedas. Dashnami Sanyas Sampradaya was also initiated by Him. Seven Akhadas were founded, one of which is Shambhu Panchayati Akhada.
Presently we have approx 500 sadhus in the Akhada. Other Akhadas have greater number of sadhus, with Shri Pancha Dashnam Juna Akhada biggest the biggest with over 2 lakh sants. The base or the main branch of our Akhada is at Kutwapara Shakh Hanuman, Varanasi. We have branches in Haridwar and Nasik . Attempts are on to start one each in Prayagraj (Allahabad) and Ujjain too. During Kumbha Mela new sadhus get Deeksha by the great Sadhus of this Akhada whi gather during Kumbha Mela from all over the country. The main purpose is maintenance and renovation of of Mathas , Temples and protection of Gaumata and Brahmins. Our Sadhus travel wherever there is a need and do their Dharma with the help of sadhus of other Akhadas, government and society at large.
Gaumata is higly worshipped in our Hindu Dharma, 33 crore Devi and Devtas reside in her, as mentioned in our Vedas and Scriptures. Unfortunately, cow slaughter is on the rise in our country. Many new Gaushalas have been built but not being properly maintained, despite efforts of the government and society. Every Hindu needs to decide to take care of at least one Gaumata.
